STUDENT LOANS
A college education can be expensive. But a DFECU Student Loan can help make handling those costs a little easier. For eligible members we offer Stafford Loans; for their parents, we offer PLUS Loans. Stafford Loans
To apply for a Stafford Loan, the member must be:
- Enrolled in an accredited school, and
- Be taking at least six credits per semester.
The student must obtain a Financial Aid form from the college and file it with the school. Once the school has determined how much financial aid the student will receive, they can apply for a Stafford Loan for the remainder of the tuition.
PLUS Loans
As with Stafford Loans, parents of a college student must first file a Financial Aid Form with the school before applying for this loan. DFECU members can receive a loan to cover the difference between the cost of college and the financial aid granted.
Our loans are serviced through National Education Loan Network (NELNET).
